The Ceduna Business & Tourism Association announced its winners of the 2017 Ceduna Crab Competition after is close on Easter Monday. With over 120 individual registrations and 400 measured crabs since January 1st, this year marks the best ever result for the four years of the competition.
The Senior winner takes home a fully kitted out 370 Dart Qunitrex tinny on a quality Dunbier trailer with a Yamaha 15 horsepower outboard from a total prize pool of over $14,000. There is inshore safety gear included, registration on both the boat and trailer – all the winner needs to do is put fuel in it! Shane Pittaway netted a 179mm blue swimmer crab to claim that honor this year. Congratulations Shane!
The Junior winner was Damon Retsas, whose crab measured over 163mm.
The CBTA would like to think its sponsors, prize providers, and the District Council of Ceduna for their significant investment and support for the competition. Also to the Ceduna Visitor Information Centre for receiving registrations and measuring the crabs, and Ceduna Sportspower, Spry’s Homescene, Ceduna Foreshore Caravan Park and Ceduna Shelly Beach Caravan Park who all displayed the major prize.
